My 365project

About Sean

A little about me is due here. I've been blogging since November 2003 and had a very popular teaching blog which I closed down after writing it for five years. I ran out of things to say, but discovered that I enjoy blogging alot. In September 2009 I started another blog, Repatriate Me, which is still running and details my thoughts, feelings and all the necessities of returning to Canada after living 15 years abroad (there's a lot to do)

In mid December 2010 I started thinking about doing a photo a day for 2011, also known as the 365 project. I initially started posting the photos to my Repatriate Me blog, but it seemed to dilute the focus of the blog and thus the creation of this one. I'll most likely keep posting here at the end of the year as I do really enjoy photography.

My History with Photography

In 1997 just before moving to Korea I bought a second hand Canon Rebel (can't remember exact model) film camera with a 28-70mm lens and a 70-210mm lens. I enjoyed using this camera and took pretty good pictures (at least I thought so). About a year and a half later the shutter broke and I replaced the body with a Canon EOS 5 film camera and continued using the same lens.

However in 2002 I bought my first digital P&S camera and quickly started using that more and more because it was cheaper - no buying film or prints. Around 2006 I finally sold the camera, lens and filters that I had because money was a little tight and I couldn't afford to buy a digital SLR.

Finally in September 2010 I bought a new DSLR and jumped right back into the hobby. Here is a my equipment list as of May 2011.

  1. Canon Kiss X4 (also known as the 550D or T2i)
  2. Battery Grip
  3. Canon 50mm f1.8 II
  4. Canon 28-105 f3.5/4.5 (sold)
  5. Tamron 10-24 f3.5/4.5
  6. Tamron 17-50 f2.8 (non-VC)
  7. Sigma 70-300 F4-5.6 DG OS
  8. Manfrotto 190xproB tripod and 496RC2 head
  9. various filters, wireless remote, and an intervalometer

I've also got a list of photography equipment that I will realistically buy sometime in the future as well as another list of equipment that is astronomically out of reach.

If you would like to see more of my photos check out my flickr page. I'm also on twitter and an active member of the forums at Photography on the Net.

To the left is a photo of me with my kata camera bag and tripod reaching through an arrow loophole at Hwaseong Fortress I've also posted a set of photos on flickr for that trip.
