Today is the first day of a new semester and a new academic year. It's an exciting time for teachers and students. I always look forward to each new semester because you get to start fresh again. Even when teaching the same class, the lessons are always a little different and there are improvements to make from semester to semester.
This is also my last semester teaching so I'm looking forward to both the teaching and the end of the semester when I return to Canada after 15 years abroad. What better picture to signify new beginnings in an academic setting.
